## Summary

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), headquartered in Bristol, UK, has initiated an open tender process for the provision of Environmental Monitoring Systems. This process, under an active status, focuses on services within the category of environmental monitoring not related to construction. It includes two lots: maintenance of existing systems and the purchase and upgrade of new systems. With a combined estimated contract value of £9.6 million (inclusive of VAT), the procurement method involves a competitive flexible procedure with a framework agreement. Key dates include the enquiry period ending on 23rd June 2026, submission deadline on 8th July 2026, and award announcements by 18th September 2026. The contracting period is set to begin on 1st October 2026 through 30th September 2030.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in scalable and resilient environmental monitoring solutions. The framework agreement allows for direct awards to pre-qualified suppliers, suggesting an advantageous position for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs). Suppliers with expertise in providing flexible and future-proof systems that integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructures across diverse and large-scale medical environments are particularly well-suited to compete. Given the critical nature of these systems for ensuring compliance and safety within NHSBT facilities, the tender can serve as a growth lever for companies with innovative monitoring technologies tailored for healthcare settings.

Lot 1: Maintenance of Environmental Monitoring System Lot 2: Purchase of New & Upgrade to Existing Environmental Monitoring System

### Lot Information

Lot 1 - Maintenance of Existing Environmental Monitoring Systems

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) seeks to award a framework agreement for the maintenance, support and calibration of existing Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS) deployed across various sites. The EMS infrastructure is critical to ensuring the safe, compliant and continuous monitoring of controlled environments, equipment and storage facilities across NHSBT sites, including laboratories, cleanrooms, blood centres, storage facilities and specialist processing areas. These systems monitor a wide range of environmental and operational parameters, including but not limited to temperature, humidity, differential pressure, particle counts, oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, and equipment status. EMS installations vary in scale and complexity, ranging from approximately 50 to over 1,000 monitoring points per site, requiring a robust, scalable and resilient maintenance service capable of supporting large, distributed infrastructures.

Lot 2 - Upgrade & Purchase of New Environmental Monitoring Systems

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is seeking to aaward a framework agreement for the upgrade, enhancement and supply of new Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS) across various sites. EMS solutions are critical to maintaining safe, compliant and continuously monitored environments across NHSBT facilities, including laboratories, cleanrooms, processing areas and storage environments. These systems are required to support the monitoring, recording and reporting of a wide range of environmental and operational parameters, including but not limited to temperature, humidity, differential pressure, particle counts, oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, and equipment or plant status. NHSBT operates a diverse estate with system installations ranging from approximately 50 to over 1,000 monitoring points per site. Suppliers must therefore provide scalable, flexible and future-proof solutions capable of supporting complex, multi-site deployments and integration with existing infrastructure.
