## Summary

Bedford Borough Council is initiating an Open Framework for Building Maintenance and Building Services, currently in the planning stage. The procurement process encompasses a wide array of trades and services spread across multiple lots, including electrical and mechanical maintenance, building repairs, and water hygiene management. Expressions of interest are encouraged by the deadline of 19th December 2025, with tender publication due in early January 2026. Located in Bedford, UK, the framework is designed to support regular planned maintenance as well as reactive maintenance and larger repair projects. The framework period is set to commence on 1st April 2026 and run until 31st March 2029, with possible extensions until 2034.

This procurement presents substantial opportunities for businesses in various trades, especially those specialising in building services and mechanical and electrical engineering. Companies capable of providing both single-supplier services for planned maintenance and multi-supplier capabilities for extensive repair works will find considerable growth potential by participating in this tender. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are particularly suited, with specific lots open to multi-supplier participation, thereby allowing wider market access and diversification of business portfolios. Businesses that can deliver quality service in minor building works, lift maintenance, and management of safety systems are well positioned to benefit from this extensive public sector framework.
