## Summary

The Department for Education recently concluded a procurement process titled "Technical & Vocational Subject Teaching Professional Development". As a central government public authority situated in London, UK, the department aims to enhance the skills of educators teaching technical and vocational subjects, including T Levels and other qualifications. The contract, with a gross value of approximately £23 million, was awarded to the Association of Colleges and is slated to commence on 1 June 2026, running until 31 August 2029, with a potential one-year extension. The procurement process, adopting an open procedure under the UK Public Contracts Regulations 2023, emphasised social value, accounting for 10% of the evaluation criteria. The contract will incorporate a blend of in-person, online, and pre-recorded activities to develop industry-aligned training content for teachers and organisational support for education providers.

This procurement creates substantial growth opportunities for businesses specialising in educational services, content development, and digital learning platforms. The programme's focus on pedagogical and industry-relevant training aligns well with companies adept in vocational training, educational content creation, and professional development services. Firms capable of scaling educational technologies and training systems stand to benefit significantly from this initiative. Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and larger firms with experience in collaborative network creation, upskilling sessions, and pedagogical innovation are ideally positioned to contribute to and gain from contracts of this nature, given the government's emphasis on SME participation and innovative consortia involvement.
