## Summary

Transport for London (TfL) is preparing a public procurement process titled "Rail Hydraulic Bogie Damper Repair and Overhaul for Bakerloo Line 72TS", focusing on the repair and overhaul of Hydraulic dampers for the London Underground 1972 Tube Stock (Bakerloo line). This tender is at the planning stage and forms part of the services category. Key dates to note include a deadline for completing the Preliminary Market Engagement Document, due by 17:00 GMT on 24th July 2025. The process will involve engaging with businesses to secure long-term service contracts aimed at maintaining vital components of public transportation systems within London.

This procurement process presents significant opportunities for businesses specialised in repair, maintenance, and related services within the rail industry. With a focus on a framework agreement, there is a prospective long-term engagement, particularly suitable for SMEs and organisations that can offer innovative solutions to maximise Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). By participating in the preliminary market engagement, businesses have a chance to showcase their expertise and potentially influence the strategic planning of essential repairs that contribute to the safety and efficiency of London's public transport infrastructure.

## Notice

The proposed tender is intended to secure long-term overhaul and repair of Hydraulic dampers for London Underground (LU) 1972 Tube Stock (72TS), used on the Bakerloo line and to maximise LU's intellectual property rights (IPRs) over the designs, recognizing that there are likely to be existing IPRs owned by the supplier. See section Q13 of the Preliminary Market Engagement document. The proposed scope for this tender covers the repair and overhaul of Bogie Dampers for London Underground (LU) 1972 Tube Stock (72TS), used on the Bakerloo line. These items form part of the suspension on the train which reduce the effect of travelling over rough surfaces leading to improved ride quality and vehicle handling. Their main purpose is to limit excessive suspension movement. The dampers form part of the suspension on the train and fit between the car body and bogie either in a nominally vertical or lateral orientation.
