## Summary

The NHS Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board is proceeding with a contract award for youth worker services in its region. The procurement falls under the Health Services category and specifically targets young individuals aged 11-25 with long-term conditions and mental health needs. The service is to be stationed across three acute hospitals in South West England, covering Bath, North East Somerset, Swindon, and Wiltshire. This contract is currently in the award stage, having been approved by the BSW CYP Oversight Delivery Group in May 2025. The contract is intended to be awarded directly to SMASH Youth Project from 1st July 2025 until 31st March 2026, with a total value of £115,000. Representations by other providers must be submitted by 9th June 2025.

The project presents significant opportunities for businesses within the healthcare and social services sectors, particularly those experienced in delivering community-based or youth-focused health interventions. The limited procurement method adopted indicates a preference for the existing provider, SMASH Youth Project, capitalising on their established service delivery in the region. This contract not only provides continuity for the successful impact of youth worker services but also enhances collaborative opportunities with NHS facilities. Businesses specialising in subcontracting youth worker roles or offering ancillary services to community health programmes might find potential growth avenues through partnership opportunities or future tenders of a similar nature.

## Notice

The service places Youth Workers in wards and clinics at the 3 Acute hospitals, playing a crucial role in supporting Children and Young People aged 11-25 years with Long Term Conditions and displaying low -medium level mental health issues. The Youth Workers provide a holistic, compassionate and trauma informed approach, having the time to begin to forge trusting relationships with the CYP that clinical staff may not be able to due to capacity, experience and perceived barriers of uniformed services.
