## Summary

UNITED UTILITIES WATER LIMITED is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for acquiring Wastewater Nitrous Oxide sensors and controllers, as detailed in their document "Wastewater Nitrous Oxide in Liquid Sensors and Controllers". This contract is placed under the category of pollution-monitoring devices and industrial process control equipment. The procurement process, set to occur within the United Kingdom, utilises a competitive flexible procedure method with selective procurement. The projected cost for the initial set of 120 sensors and related equipment is approximately £1 million, with an additional £1 million expected for consumables over the subsequent four years. Interested parties must express their interest before the deadline on 31st July 2025, with the enquiry period ending on 7th July 2025, and the final award expected by 31st August 2025.

This procurement offers substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in environmental monitoring technologies, control systems, and industrial equipment. Small to medium-sized enterprises with advanced sensor technologies, particularly those capable of detecting nitrous oxide in liquid form, can leverage this contract to establish or expand their presence in the water management industry. With a potential requirement for ongoing spares and consumables over five years, providers of durable, high-performance equipment, and associated logistical services would be well-suited to compete in this selective procurement process. The initial contract period is expected to commence on 1st September 2025, running through to 31st August 2030, indicating a long-term engagement opportunity for the successful bidder.

## Notice

UU are looking to source sensor equipment capable of detecting & measuring Nitrous Oxide in liquid. The requirement of detection in liquid is fundamental to this product; sensors for gas state do not meet this requirement. UU are looking for 120 sensors for immediate requirement, along with appropriate fitments, controllers, pipe mounting equipment, cabling and calibration kits. The initial requirement should also include consumables to run the sensors for 12 months. Our research shows probe heads have a usable lifespan of 6 months. There will likely be on ongoing requirement for spares and consumables for 5 years. Our market intelligence leads us to the conclusion there is only 1 suitable product on the market currently, from Unisense, shown here: https://unisense-environment.com/products/n2o-wastewater-sensor/ We are expecting the cost to come in at approximately PS1M based on the product set from Unisense over 12 months. With a consumables requirement of a further PS1M over the following 4 years. This notice is designed to test our sourcing intelligence with the market for competing product availability.
