## Summary

UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "UKRI-4971 Compressed Air and Nitrogen Generator Systems." This initiative falls within the services industry category and is set to deliver necessary systems to various locations, including the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Didcot, STFC Chilbolton Observatory, and The Cosener’s House in Abingdon. The procurement addresses specific needs for maintenance and new assets, with a projected total value of £1,580,000 excluding VAT across a potential four-year term. Significant milestones include market engagement completed on 12th May 2025, with future notice expected shortly thereafter. The contract's planned commencement is on 16th August 2025, setting a strategic focus on comprehensive maintenance measures from the outset.

This tender opportunity presents a substantial prospect for growth for businesses in the machinery repair and maintenance services sector, specifically those specialising in compressed air and nitrogen systems. Firms capable of delivering a high standard of planned preventative maintenance, alongside reacting effectively to remedial works, will find this contract particularly appealing. With an annual potential spend of £395,000, the procurement allows businesses that can offer competitive pricing without exceeding £220,000 annually for planned maintenance to furnish an impactful bid. Companies with experience in integrating new technology assets into existing infrastructure will be well-poised to pursue this lucrative engagement.

### Planning Information

The market for this requirement is already established due to the original tender, which was launched in March, closed without award due to significant changes in both the specification and the available budget. These changes were made by the outcome of the original tender and were necessary to ensure a successful outcome in the re-tendering process. UKRI have taken the lessons learnt from the unsuccessful tender and used this to form the Invitation to Tender.
