## Summary

North Tyneside Borough Council is currently in the tender phase of a procurement process titled "OPEN20251017 - Contract 65 - Fire, Intruder Alarms and Equipment Framework." This falls under the industry category of security and fire-fighting equipment, specifically focusing on repair and maintenance services. Located in the UKC22 region, the council is seeking qualified contractors to join a framework agreement for servicing fire alarms, firefighting equipment, and intruder alarms. The tender, subject to open competition, aims to support the council's capital investment plan over an initial two-year term, with options for two additional 12-month extensions. Key dates include an enquiry period ending on 7th July 2025, with the tender closing on 11th July 2025. The procurement method is characterised by an open process below the threshold for substantial public frameworks.

This tender presents substantial growth opportunities for businesses specialising in security, fire-fighting, and defence equipment, as well as alarm systems installation. The framework is particularly well-suited for SMEs capable of routine maintenance, system checks, and equipment repair. Participating businesses can expect to be engaged for maintenance tasks aligned with British Standards BS 5839 for fire alarms and BS 4737 for intruder alarms. With a gross value of £600,000 to be divided possibly into multiple lots, companies that excel in providing both quality and competitive pricing have a tangible opportunity to secure a significant portion of the framework. This offers an entry point into governmental contracts, enabling firms to expand their portfolio and credibility within the public sector.
