## Summary

Southampton City Council is overseeing a procurement process for "Registered Overnight Residential Respite Short Breaks for Adults and Children in Southampton," under the service category of health and social work services. This tender involves a collaborative effort with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) to fulfil statutory responsibilities for providing short breaks and support services for disabled children, young people, adults, and their unpaid carers. The procurement process has been completed, with awarded contracts transitioning from the tender to the award stage as of 23rd February 2026. Services will be provided across Southampton and are procured through an open procedure with a light-touch regime, signifying a focus on simplifying processes for suppliers in this essential community service domain.

This procurement process represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in health and social work services, especially those focused on providing care for individuals with disabilities. The competitive open procedure allows a diverse range of service providers, including larger organisations and potentially SMEs with expertise in overnight residential respite care, to engage in this vital public service. As the contracts are demand-led, there is potential for value fluctuation and additional purchases, encouraging suppliers to align service provision with evolving community needs. Companies that are adept at delivering person-centered care, maintaining high-quality assurance systems, and engaging with stakeholders to co-produce services will find opportunities for growth and community impact through these contracts.
