## Summary

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, completed an open procurement process to secure comprehensive fleet maintenance and service arrangements for North Wales. The tender, titled "North Wales Fleet Maintenance & Service Arrangements," focused on maintaining vehicles used by the Welsh Blood Service to ensure their operational readiness and compliance with transport legislation. Key services include routine servicing, MOTs, emergency breakdown support, and specialised repairs, targeted for the WBS locations in Llandygai, Bangor, and Wrexham. The procurement, which sought interested suppliers in July 2025, resulted in a contract awarded to A N Richards, an SME based in Llangollen, effective from December 2025 with the potential for renewal up to November 2030.

This tender represents a growth opportunity for businesses specialising in fleet maintenance services, particularly those with expertise in servicing government and healthcare transport requirements. As the successful supplier, A N Richards demonstrates the competitive edge required by delivering reliable vehicle servicing critical to the Welsh Blood Service’s operations. Potential competitors or partners in such tenders would likely benefit from a strong local presence, proven track record in fleet management, and capacity to meet specific vehicle compliance standards. The procurement process, initiated through an open competition, catered to SMEs, emphasising the procurement's accessibility to a broad range of industry participants.
