## Summary

Queen's University Belfast initiated a procurement process for the contract titled "250077 - Provision of services for Named Veterinary Surgeons (NVS)" within the veterinary services industry. The tender aimed to appoint a Named Veterinary Surgeon for the Biological Services Core Technology Unit within the university's Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences. Located in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the procurement process followed an open procedure under UK law and was in the tender stage as of 24th June 2025, with a submission deadline on 30th July 2025. The tender, valued at £1.2 million gross, encompassed key responsibilities under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, highlighting a significant compliance requirement for potential bidders.

For businesses, this tender presented an opportunity to establish a long-term relationship with a prestigious institution. Particularly, it attracted those with expertise in veterinary services that could adapt to evolving requirements and engage in collaborative, resource-committed roles. The open procedure favoured companies capable of demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of veterinary practices in line with both regulatory and ethical standards. Moreover, businesses with capabilities to manage potential risk factors, such as evolving service demands and integration with digital systems, stood to benefit significantly by participating in this competition. The opportunity also involved ongoing contract reviews and potential for contract modifications, which could be advantageous for firms looking to expand their service provisions and market influence within the higher education sector.
