The procurement process for the "Insourcing of Radiographers" involves the NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust. This contract, classified under the health services category, entails providing insourced radiography services to aid in MRI scanning across mobile MRI units operated by the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The procurement stage has reached the contract award, confirmed as of 12 January 2026. This initiative is governed by the Health Services (Provider Selection Regime) (Wales) Regulations 2025, specifically not subject to the Public Contracts Regulations 2015/Procurement Act 2023. The contract, valued at £436,800, began its 90-day service provision following its signing on 16 December 2025. This award notice confirms Jennie Reeves Radiographers Agency Limited as the successful supplier, selected through a Direct Award Process, with services focusing on regions under Cardiff's health jurisdiction.

This procurement opens significant business growth opportunities, specifically for SMEs in the health services sector, looking to expand their service reach within NHS frameworks. The project supports the delivery of MRI scanning services with mobile units, adding value to businesses specializing in radiography services. Given the contract's focus and the buyer being one of Europe's largest NHS organizations employing over 17,000 staff, firms capable of providing high-quality, consistent radiography services are well-placed to compete. This contract facilitates access to substantial health service delivery platforms, supporting diagnostic capacity and reducing patient waiting times across participating Health Boards in Wales, making it a lucrative opportunity for businesses specializing in radiological diagnostics and related services.
