## Summary

The Department for Transport initiated an open procurement process for the "IMO Front Barrier Replacement Works 2025" in London, under the industry categories of metalworking and safety barriers. The contract involves works at the International Maritime Organization at 4 Albert Embankment, London, aiming to replace the existing front barrier system. The process began with a tender notice on 23 June 2025, progressing to an award on 11 September 2025, with the contract running from 12 December 2025 to 31 March 2026. The procurement method was a "Below threshold - open competition," indicating that design responsibility lies with the contractor, and the scheme was subject to planning approval.

This tender provides businesses specialising in metalworking, safety barriers, cladding works, installation of street furniture, and erection of railings with a lucrative opportunity to expand within the public sector. Stonegrove Limited, an SME, was successful in this competitive landscape, suggesting that similar-sized businesses, particularly in construction and engineering, could find growth through innovation and compliance with technical, commercial, and social value criteria. With the contract valued at £171,310, it highlights an opportunity for mid-sized enterprises to leverage their capabilities in complex design and installation projects that demand thorough planning and execution.
