## Summary

The public procurement process, initiated by KCH Interventional Facilities Management LLP, involves the direct award of a contract titled "Blood Culture Bottles" in the field of haematological consumables. The buyer, a central government public authority located in London, United Kingdom, selected Becton Dickinson as the supplier. This procurement, which utilises a direct award method due to the specific compatibility requirements of the BD BACTEC FX system, follows the legal basis established in the UK's 2023/54 legislation. Key dates include the award date of 25th June 2025, with the contract period extending from 8th July 2025 to 7th July 2028, and potential renewals extending to 2035. The procurement stage is currently at the award phase, with the contract status marked as pending.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for business growth, particularly for enterprises that provide or are able to support specialised medical equipment and consumables. Large-scale businesses like Becton Dickinson, which can ensure consistency in supply and compatibility with existing medical systems, are well-suited for such opportunities. Companies that can demonstrate expertise in supplying specialised clinical materials, coupled with the ability to meet specific technical and operational demands, would be advantageous candidates in similar procurement processes. Moreover, the potential for a long-term partnership up to ten years presents further growth prospects for businesses capable of meeting the rigorous requirements set by public authorities.

## Notice

The BD BACTEC FX is an automated system used for detecting microorganisms in clinical samples and is designed to work exclusively with BD blood culture bottles. Specific types of blood bottles we use are BD BACTEC Lytic Anaerobic, BD BACTEC Plus Aerobic and BD BACTEC Peds Plus

### Procurement Information

The BD Bactec FX is a closed system, it works exclusively with the BD blood culture bottles and, as such, to facilitate this tendered solution, across all sites, it stands that these must be consistently used. There is not a viable or compatible alternative. The risks to not changing the Biomeriux bottles to BD bottles means that the newly installed BDFX analysers will not work on the current bottles.
