The BD BACTEC FX is an automated system used for detecting microorganisms in clinical samples and is designed to work exclusively with BD blood culture bottles. Specific types of blood bottles we use are BD BACTEC Lytic Anaerobic, BD BACTEC Plus Aerobic and BD BACTEC Peds Plus

### Procurement Information

The BD Bactec FX is a closed system, it works exclusively with the BD blood culture bottles and, as such, to facilitate this tendered solution, across all sites, it stands that these must be consistently used. There is not a viable or compatible alternative. The risks to not changing the Biomeriux bottles to BD bottles means that the newly installed BDFX analysers will not work on the current bottles.
