## Summary

The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) is currently in the planning stage of a public procurement process for "Legacy Broadcast Machines Maintenance and Engineering Support." This request for information (RFI) pertains to services maintaining and repairing traditional broadcast videotape recorders (VTRs) and specific audio playback devices. The process is classified under the industry category of "Repair and maintenance services of audio-visual and optical equipment." Operating from its primary location in London, UK, the BBC is seeking insights from the market to gauge the presence and capability of service providers in this niche field. Potential participants should register and submit their interest by 25th July 2025, using the BBC's eSourcing portal.

This RFI offers significant growth opportunities for businesses specializing in audio-visual equipment maintenance and engineering support. Companies adept in servicing professional audio equipment and legacy broadcast technology are particularly well-suited to compete in this market segment. Responding to this RFI does not require participation in subsequent procurement but provides a valuable opportunity for businesses to position themselves as future contenders when a formal tender is launched. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to engage, given the procurement's suitability provisions, which could foster growth and market visibility in the promising field of broadcast technology support.

## Notice

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION *** BBC Archives Technology & Services wishes to understand what entities are in the market providing services for maintaining and repairing traditional broadcast videotape recorders (VTRs) and audio playback devices such as Professional Sony DAT and Studer 1/4-inch Audio Tape Recorders (ATRs). *** For the avoidance of doubt, any information provided to the BBC in response to this RFI will be treated as confidential and non-binding. No contract will be awarded as a consequence of this RFI process, however, the BBC anticipates launching a procurement opportunity in the near future. *** Responding to this RFI is not a prerequisite for participation in a subsequent procurement, nor does it give any advantage in that procurement. The BBC would welcome responses to this RFI in order that the BBC can build an understanding regarding the current and future provision of the project.
