## Summary

The procurement process for the "North Cumbria Waiting Well Service - Fit4Life" is led by the NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board, based in Sunderland, UK. The contract, valued at £37,280, is in the Community Health Services category, focusing on providing personalised care to patients awaiting surgery. Situated in North Cumbria, the contract is a component of the Healthier Fairer programme, functioning under urgent provisions owing to its nature. Originally, an implied contract was operational from April 2025, with formal contracts signed on 27 June 2025. The procurement was conducted under a limited method due to proof of concept services, bypassing typical public contract regulations, with a contract initially set for six months and extendable to a maximum of twelve months.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for business growth, particularly for organisations involved in the community health services sector. Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with expertise in delivering tiered health service offerings could compete effectively given the specialised nature of services needed to support surgical readiness and outcomes. Companies with innovative approaches that can address individual patient needs, which include mental, emotional, social, and physical preparation for surgery, are ideal candidates. Participation in such a project could establish a foothold in a growing segment focused on patient care optimisation and potentially open doors to longer-term collaborative health initiatives under similar urgent provision frameworks.
