## Summary

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has awarded a contract titled "FCP Natural Environment Valuation Model (NEV): Phase 2 - assessing the deliverability of environmental objectives" to the University of Exeter. This contract focuses on advancing research aimed at optimising environmental objectives for farming under varied scenarios, using a unique modelling tool developed by the supplier. The project is concentrated within the services category and is recognised under the classification of social research services. The procurement was carried out through a direct award method, citing technical reasons for selecting a sole supplier. This tender presents notable opportunities for businesses engaged in environmental research and modelling, particularly those with expertise in developing and utilising advanced decision-making tools for environmental management. The project seeks to leverage unique capabilities in spatial-temporal modelling to deliver strategic insights for policy optimisation. Companies with proficiencies in environmental consultancy, policy advisory, and research and development might find this contract particularly appealing, aligning with current governmental priorities in sustainability and environmental performance enhancement. Access to such government contracts could facilitate further growth by expanding their portfolio of governmental projects and enhancing their reputation in the public sector.
