## Summary

Bassetlaw District Council has awarded a contract for the purchase of AI research sensors as part of their involvement in the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) consortia project, Alchemai. This project is focused on developing innovative decarbonisation project designs through combining building data, AI, and architecture expertise. The procurement falls under the ‘services’ category, specifically classified as research consultancy services. The chosen supplier, Atamate Building Intelligence, situated in Cardiff, is tasked with deploying and managing the sensor equipment. This 'limited procurement' approach, without prior call for competition, was deemed necessary due to the bespoke nature of the project as outlined by UKRI. The contract was signed on 23 August 2024, with the procurement stage listed as 'award' and the contract is valued at £204,720, under the approved UKRI budget.

This contract provides significant opportunities for businesses specializing in AI integration and advanced data monitoring solutions. Firms with expertise in environmental and building data analytics may find potential growth avenues through related projects or by partnering with councils or consortia working on similar initiatives. Atamate’s involvement underscores the importance of possessing unique technological capabilities and a demonstrated ability to meet project-specific criteria. Businesses catering to regional councils or possessing innovative technological products that align with sustainable development goals would be well-placed to compete in similar procurement processes.

## Notice

Bassetlaw District Council intend to conduct a research project, under the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) consortia project, Alchemai. Alchemai aims to pilot a novel method of designing capital-based decarbonisation projects through a collaboration between building data, AI, and architectural specialists. To progress this project, the Council will need to install a set of sensors across pre-decided buildings in our estate, meeting our first UKRI approved work package. The chosen kit from the consortia is a specific sensor provided by Atamate, which is a data-packed device that will provide the consortia partners with an exceedingly granular dataset to further analyse the buildings. The proposed supplier is Atamate Building Intelligence, Celtic House, Caxton Place, Penwyn, Cardiff, CF23 8HA. Within the approved project plan by the UKRI, Atamate are required as part of their work package to deploy the monitoring equipment (the sensors), monitor the data on an ongoing basis and to facilitate the integration of the live data into the Atamate tool.
