## Summary

The Cambridgeshire County Council has completed the procurement process for the 'Body Removals Service,' a project initially announced in 2025. This service involves the sensitive and professional removal of bodies in collaboration with H.M. Coroner, with a focus on specific regions such as Cambridge, Peterborough, Fenland, and Huntingdon and St Neots. Categorized under 'Funeral and related services', this tender employs an open procurement method. The procurement process, spanning from planning to award stage, culminated with contracts signed on November 1, 2025, and are set to be active until October 31, 2028, with possible extensions. The contracts awarded span multiple lots, with suppliers such as Daniel Robinson & Sons Ltd. and Peterborough Funeral Services Ltd. fulfilling the contracts in their respective regions.

This tender presents considerable opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), emphasising the need for local funeral directors equipped to handle logistics, accommodation, and storage of the deceased. Businesses in the funeral and related services industry stand to benefit significantly from this contract, particularly those with the infrastructure to provide purpose-built or modified facilities suitable for body storage. The procurement encourages competitive pricing along with quality service, making it ideal for businesses that can deliver efficient, dignified handling of services required by H.M. Coroner. Furthermore, the potential contract extension ensures a prolonged business relationship with the council, promoting business growth and stability.

## Notice
