## Summary

The NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is planning a public procurement process for the acquisition of Multi-Apheresis and Extracorporeal Photopheresis Systems. This initiative falls under the medical equipment category, encompassing goods for the healthcare sector. Based in the UK region of South West (Bristol), NHSBT is looking to engage suppliers through early market engagement meetings scheduled for September 2025. Interested organisations are required to express their interest via email by 18th August 2025, though this participation is not a prerequisite for involvement in any future formal procurement. The procurement is still in the planning stage, with a notable potential contract period beginning in February 2027 and extending for ten years.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in medical equipment manufacturing, repair, and maintenance. Companies offering innovative and reliable solutions in therapeutic apheresis, particularly those capable of supplying and maintaining machines and consumables, will find this process aligned with their expertise. The engagement with NHSBT can open pathways for long-term collaboration, further establishing a foothold in the health sector. SMEs and large-scale medical suppliers with experience in servicing UK wide healthcare facilities are well-positioned to benefit from this procurement, fostering business growth through substantial contract values reaching up to £65 million.

Prior to commencing a formal procurement process and to help inform strategy requirements, NHSBT would like to consult the market to establish the level of interest for the purchase of therapeutic apheresis machines, consumables and maintenance, to support provision of new Therapeutic Apheresis Systems for Extracorporeal Photopheresis (ECP), Apheresis Collection, Exchange and Depletion Procedures (including Bone Marrow), and associated consumables and maintenance. Requirements also include consumables, maintenance and repair of existing NHSBT owned Cellex ECP Machines and Optia Multi-Apheresis Machines.
