## Summary

The Kent and Medway Towns Fire and Rescue Authority, based in Maidstone, is the contracting organisation for the procurement titled "NFCC National Firefighter PPE - Lot 8 (Cleaning and Maintenance)". This procurement falls within the industry category of firefighting and rescue safety services. It covers multiple regions across the United Kingdom. The process has recently moved to the award stage, with the framework agreements being completed as of April 13, 2026. The procurement was conducted through an open competitive flexible procedure, aimed at establishing a framework for cleaning and maintenance services of firefighting equipment, including firefighting personal protective equipment (PPE). The framework is expected to run for a maximum of 8 years, with anticipated reopening for new submissions in March 2029 and between March 2032 and March 2033.

This tender provides significant opportunities for businesses involved in the cleaning and maintenance of firefighting equipment, especially as it establishes open framework agreements with several suppliers. The successful bidders for this contract were Ballyclare Ltd, Elis UK Ltd, and Hunter Apparel Solutions Ltd, showcasing opportunities for both small and large enterprises. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to compete, evidenced by two SMEs being awarded a framework agreement. Businesses that can offer high-quality services and competitive pricing, particularly in occupational and industrial clothing maintenance, would find this tender process advantageous for growth and long-term business relationships with public sector clients across the UK.
