## Summary

The King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is undergoing a procurement process titled "Market Engagement notice for the Provision of Transformer and Generator for King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust," currently at the planning stage. This contract involves the installation of critical electrical infrastructure upgrades, including a 1.5MVA transformer and a 750kVA standby diesel generator, intended to enhance the hospital's power resilience and capacity. Located in London, the project falls under the goods category with specific focus on emergency generators and installation services of diesel engines. Interested parties have till 28th July 2025 to express interest via the Atamis Portal, with the contract period anticipated from 1st September 2025 to 1st January 2026.

Participation in this tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses specialised in electrical infrastructure, particularly those capable of supplying and installing transformers and generators. Companies with experience in handling large-scale electrical upgrades and those providing infrastructure resilience and maintainability solutions will find this opportunity particularly beneficial. The Trust is looking for assurance from suppliers about their capability and readiness to execute the project within the 2025/26 Financial Year, providing a platform for the right supplier to establish a substantial footprint in the healthcare sector's infrastructure landscape.

## Notice

The Cheyne Wing Transformer project will deliver critical electrical infrastructure upgrades at Kings College Hospital through the installation of a new 1.5MVA transformer and a 750kVA standby diesel generator.

### Planning Information

The Cheyne Wing Transformer project will deliver critical electrical infrastructure upgrades at Kings College Hospital through the installation of a new 1.5MVA transformer and a 750kVA standby diesel generator. The load demands on these sub stations have been increasing beyond the ideal and where the resilience of the connected services could become compromised in a plant failure scenario. This, combined with a requirement to support proposed additional loads within Bessemer has led to the requirement for a further transformer substation, standalone Diesel generator support and associated new low voltage distribution facility to be created. These additions will support the increased electrical demand driven by more power requirements while alleviating load pressures on existing substations 1A and 1B. Strategically positioned at the southern end of Cheyne Wing, the transformer and generator will integrate into the hospital’s existing 11kV Ring B network, with associated low-voltage switchgear housed in a repurposed internal room adjacent to the current distribution boards. The project is designed to enhance resilience, improve maintainability, and provide sufficient capacity for future expansion. The Contracting authority seeks to understand from suppliers in the market whether they have appetite, capability and resource available to bid and deliver the project this Financial year 25/26. Please respond to this notice, with your interest and you will be considered and added to big for this provision via the Atamis Portal. Timeframe for response. With thanks, The Project Team,
