## Summary

The procurement process for "Mental Health Crisis Beds" by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has concluded, with the contract being awarded to East Cheshire Housing Consortium. This procurement, classified under the health services category, was conducted through a direct method without competition as it was below the threshold. The service aims to provide an alternative to hospital admission for those experiencing mental distress, helping to reduce inappropriate hospital admissions. The contract period is from 24th July 2025 to 31st March 2026, with services being delivered in Chester, UK. The entire procurement process has been completed, and the notice was published on 24th July 2025.

This procurement presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in health services, particularly those offering innovative solutions for mental health crisis care. Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) adept in providing supportive, non-clinically led mental health services would be well-suited to compete for similar future contracts. Firms operating within the UK who can offer high-quality, cost-effective solutions could position themselves strategically by showcasing their ability to reduce hospital admissions and improve patient outcomes, aligning with the objectives of public sector health contracts.

## Notice

The service will reduce inappropriate hospital admissions, attendances at Accident and Emergency Departments and readmission to hospital. The service will be an alternative to hospital admission for people who are experiencing episodes of mental distress that evidently require some form of intervention but would not necessitate an admission to secondary care mental health services by providing mental health crisis bed accommodation. The service will be a non-clinically led model supporting those in crisis /mental distress in a positive non-judgemental supportive manner as to improve the quality of life and support individuals to return home as soon as possible. There will times when individuals may seek day support rather than requiring an overnight stay. Individuals should in this instance be supported to access services that will provide the appropriate support and guidance. 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026 - PS154,216
