## Summary

Historic Environment Scotland (HES), a national agency based in Edinburgh, has concluded a public procurement process for the provision of technical hardware and support services for robotic scanning workstations, with a focus on repair and maintenance services. The contract, officially awarded on 6th August 2025, spans a duration of 60 months and carries a total value of £389,000. This procurement falls under the category of services and is specified for the National Collection of Aerial Photography (NCAP) within the UKM75 region. The procedure followed was a limited procurement method, without prior publication of a call for competition, due to the absence of viable competition for technical reasons, as detailed in the award notice from 5th September 2025. The main supplier selected is CBM-Logix Ltd, an SME located in Doncaster.

This tender represents significant business growth opportunities, primarily for companies specialising in maintaining and supporting sophisticated robotic and digital scanning technologies. Businesses with expertise in delivering comprehensive maintenance services, including on-site preventative care, software updates, and customer support, stand a competitive chance in such procurements. Given the absence of conventional competition, it provides a niche market where companies with specialised technical capabilities and a track record of working with complex digital systems could thrive, fostering substantial growth and presence in the public sector of digital scanning services for heritage and conservation projects.
