## Summary

The public procurement process for the "Independent Health and Social Care Advocacy for Adults" contract was initiated by Bath & North East Somerset Council. This procurement, classified under the health and social work services category, targets providing statutory advocacy services for adults in compliance with the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Mental Health Act. The procurement followed an open procedure, beginning from the planning stages in mid-2025, progressing through the tender phase in late 2025, and ultimately reaching the award and contract stages by early April 2026. Key activities included a market engagement event in August 2025 and final contract submission by November 2025, with the contract subsequently awarded and expected to commence on 1st April 2026. The location of service delivery is within the UKK12 region, ensuring localised adherence to community and legislative advocacy needs.

For businesses, particularly SMEs and VCSEs, this tender represents a significant opportunity to engage with public sector requirements in the health and social care advocacy domain. The contract's substantial value, estimated gross amounting to approximately £1,498,854, with the possibility of extending its duration and value, underscores the potential for business stability and growth. Capable businesses in the advocacy sector, especially those experienced in handling complex legislative frameworks like the Care and Mental Capacity Acts, would find this tender beneficial for expanding their market presence and capabilities. The open method of procurement offers a fair and competitive environment for suitable vendors to apply, fostering innovation and high-quality service delivery.
