## Summary

East Devon District Council recently concluded a procurement process resulting in the award of a contract for the Cranbrook Leisure part of the Cranbrook Leisure, Health and Wellbeing Campus. This initiative, situated in Honiton, UKK43 region, involves a multidisciplinary architectural design effort to establish a leisure centre, library, youth and family services hub, alongside a neighbourhood health centre. The procurement followed an open procedure under the legal framework provided by the UKPGA, adhering to the provisions of the Procurement Act 2023. The project's contract, valued at approximately £1.84 million net (£2.2 million gross), runs from late November 2025 to the end of December 2026, with the potential for renewals extending to December 2028.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those in architectural and related services, to expand their portfolio by engaging with public sector infrastructure developments. The focus on architectural-led design underscores the importance of firms with strong capability in delivering integrated community facilities. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), such as AHR ARCHITECTS LIMITED—awarded the contract for architectural services—demonstrate the competitiveness of well-equipped firms in influencing substantial projects. Businesses looking to engage in future similar ventures should possess robust technical capabilities, forthcoming collaboration approaches, and a readiness to engage in multifaceted design and delivery processes allied to public health and wellbeing infrastructure.
