## Summary

Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution PLC, a private utility company based in Perth, United Kingdom, is seeking suppliers for the framework to repair and maintain embedded generation mechanical works across multiple sites. This procurement process focuses on electric power distribution repair and maintenance services, essential for maintaining continuity of power across notable locations in the remote regions of Scotland, such as Lerwick, Kirkwall, Loch Carnan, Barra, Battery Point, Arnish, Bowmore, and Tiree. The process is in the tender stage with an expression of interest deadline on 30 August 2025. A competitive flexible procedure is employed, involving a selective procurement method, where interested parties are invited to view tender documents electronically. The contract award decisions will conclude by 28 November 2025, paving the pathway for approved contractors to commence service delivery shortly after. Key points of interest include the North of Scotland licence area and the Shetland supply locations, offering a fundamental service to interconnect with the broader electricity supply network.

Businesses specialised in welding, fabrication, structural steelwork, and maintenance tasks in the context of electrical distribution equipment stand to gain substantial business opportunities from this tender. The requirement for mechanical works, including welding, fabrication, spares, and tank maintenance across Distributed Embedded Generation (DEG) and Thermal Embedded Generation (TEM) sites, offer a chance for growth and expansion in service provision. The involved sites, scattered across sparsely populated yet vital regions of the UK, demand robust service capabilities that ensure operations continue smoothly even during outages or faults impacting island communities. The procurement process explicitly welcomes submissions from small to medium enterprises (SMEs), providing them an avenue to scale their operations while serving critical energy infrastructure. Prospective suppliers are encouraged to engage in this multi-lot framework agreement, which includes the potential for extensions, enhancing long-term collaboration with SSE Thermal Generation (Scotland) Limited.

It includes 59 remote island communities supplied and interconnected through 110 subsea cables with the combined length of 454km. We currently own and operate seven Distributed Embedded Generation (DEG) & 1 Thermal Embedded Generation (TEM), sites which provide continuity of services if the cables supplying the islands are on outage or have faulted TEM sites currently operate 24/7 as the main source of power for Shetland but is scheduled to be a standby site in the future. Currently diesel-powered units were established in the 1950's before the use of subsea cables when on outage and following faults, especially to island communities. We are looking for supplier's who are capable to provide support across the DEG & TEM sites for mechanical works this will include welding, fabrication, spares and tank maintenance.
