## Summary

The procurement process, conducted by Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council, pertains to the replacement of corporate firewalls and has reached the award stage as of 31st July 2025. The tender falls under the IT services industry category, specifically focusing on consulting, software development, internet, and support. It involves the replacement of CheckPoint Firewalls, previously guarding the council's network perimeter. The contract, valued at £133,529.96, commenced on 1st September 2025 and is set to conclude on 31st August 2028. With the procurement method stated as limited, this tender encourages modest competition and aims for service resale under CheckPoint's "Infinity Service" for annualised billing.

This tender presents a business growth opportunity for IT service providers capable of reselling CheckPoint products and offering associated support. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), like SOFTCAT PLC, which was successfully awarded the contract, stand well-suited to compete in such tenders due to their agility in providing specialised IT services. The tender provides a chance for SMEs to engage with public authorities and help secure IT infrastructure, a critical aspect of modern organisational operations. Additionally, businesses with expertise in IT consulting and support can leverage this contract to strengthen their portfolios and expand their presence in the public sector market.

## Notice

No Description:Sefton currently has two Checkpoint Firewalls, located on the perimeter of the Councils network. These devices act as the first line of defence against unauthorised access and cyber threats. The firewalls safeguard internal networks from external threats by examining and controlling the traffic entering or leaving the network and establishing a secure boundary between the private network and the public or other untrusted networks. The perimeter firewalls use rules to allow or deny traffic based on various factors such as IP address, ports and protocols. They can also prevent unauthorised access and prevent cyber-attacks. They are therefore essential devices on the corporate estate. We would like direct support from CheckPoint (so suppliers are only providing quotes on reselling us a service from CheckPoint) This must be under CheckPoints "Infinity Service", this will allow us to receive a fixed cost but billing to be annualised rather than paying all up front.
