## Summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is actively seeking proposals for its Trading Standards System, targeting businesses in the software and information systems sector. As part of a procurement process initiated in March 2026, this opportunity falls under an active tender stage with an open competitive mechanism. The council aims to acquire an "off the shelf" software solution adaptable to their operational needs while supporting future requirements. Located in Alconbury Weald, Huntingdon, United Kingdom, participants have until 20 March 2026 to submit their tenders electronically. This decision to bring the service back in-house underscores the Council's commitment to enhancing service delivery and adapting to regulatory changes.

This tender offers lucrative opportunities for software companies, particularly those specialising in software packages and related services, to demonstrate their expertise in creating scalable and adaptive systems. SME businesses with a robust portfolio in software solutions should find this opportunity appealing, as the procurement process encourages high-quality demonstrations from suppliers. With a contract value of £260,000, businesses can leverage their capabilities to enhance technology solutions in public service. The competitive flexible procedure ensures fair evaluation, combining quality and price assessments, which is advantageous for companies aiming to establish a solid relationship with a credible public authority. This multi-year contract, with possible extensions, presents strategic growth potential within the public sector.

## Notice

Cambridgeshire County Council (The Council) has worked jointly with another local authority to deliver a Trading Standards service since 2017 and a decision has been made to take the service back in-house. Therefore, the Council is looking to procure a commercially available, "off the shelf" Trading Standards system that that can be configured to meet the current operational requirements of the Council while also being capable of supporting future service needs. This system will enable the Trading Standards team to effectively manage its statutory duties, improve service delivery, and adapt to evolving regulatory and technological environment.
