## Summary

The Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) has recently progressed the procurement cycle for the installation of a new unlit beacon in Loch Spelve, located on the southeast coast of the Isle of Mull. This public work, under the procurement title "Installation of Loch Spelve Beacon," is part of the marine construction industry and situates within the region of UKM6 in the United Kingdom. The procurement process has reached the award stage as of 10th December 2025, following an open competition for contracts below the threshold value. The tender was awarded to Jifmar Scotland Ltd with the full installation set to complete by the end of March 2026. Key stages involved the issue of the tender on 29th August 2025 and the award by 20th October 2025, with site mobilisation beginning 3rd January 2026. NLB, a central government public authority, managed the tender process from its headquarters in Edinburgh.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, especially those operating within the maritime and civil engineering sectors. Companies with expertise in marine construction works, such as the installation of beacon structures and related engineering machinery, stand to benefit. The tender required bidders to demonstrate technical capability and completion of precise quantity billings, thereby making it suitable for SMEs with specialised experience in marine installations and who can navigate the geographical challenges of the Isle of Mull. Successfully engaging in such contracts could enhance the winning bidder's portfolio and lead to future opportunities with governmental bodies like the NLB. This is particularly opportune for firms looking to solidify their market presence in the United Kingdom's public infrastructure projects.
