## Summary

The procurement process titled "Eigensolver Core Transport" was led by UK Industrial Fusion Solutions Ltd, based at Culham Science Centre, Abingdon. It focused on services in the Software package and information systems, Systems and technical consultancy, and Research and experimental development sectors. This direct procurement process, conducted below the threshold without competition, has reached completion. The contract was awarded to the University of York and runs from 31st July 2025 to 31st March 2026. The procurement process falls under public undertaking as its classification with a contract value of £48,428.70.

This tender provides opportunities for businesses specialising in computational plasma physics and software development, particularly those with experience in electromagnetic turbulence and transport predictions. Firms skilled in developing quasilinear models for hybrid-kinetic ballooning mode turbulence may find growth potential in engaging with UK-based scientific and research-focused organisations like UK Industrial Fusion Solutions. The collaboration between UKIFS and the University of York highlights the importance of expertise in experimental development services, paving the way for further advancements in Step plasma technology.

## Notice

UKIFS seeks focussed effort from computational plasma physics expertise with recent experience in the development of state-of-the-art reduced models to describe core plasma transport from the types of electromagnetic turbulence expected to dominate in STEP plasmas. A physics-based quasilinear model of electromagnetic hybrid-kinetic ballooning mode turbulence was recently developed and usefully applied to transport predictions for STEP in [Giacomin, JPP25]. At present this model only includes transport from the linearly dominant modes. UKIFS wishes to extend this model to include sub-dominant modes that may also contribute to the transport, so that higher fidelity calculations can be performed To view this notice, please click here: https://www.delta-esourcing.com/delta/viewNotice.html?noticeId=974449251
