## Summary

The Ministry of Defence has completed an open procurement process for the provision of wheelchairs, wheelchair services, and technical assistance to the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) Stanford Hall. This nationwide service includes assessment, technical support, accessories, maintenance, and more. The contract, awarded to Blatchford Limited, is valued at approximately £2.15 million and spans from 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2029, with potential extensions up to 2033. The service spans various locations across mainland UK, targeting the health and support services industry, and has stringent cyber security requirements defined by the Defence Cyber Protection Partnership. The procurement commenced in the planning stage and has now moved through the tender and award stages, concluding on 31st March 2026.

This contract presents a substantial growth opportunity for businesses in the healthcare services and medical equipment sectors. Companies providing innovative solutions in wheelchair manufacturing, repair, and maintenance, as well as those offering expert patient assessment services, are well-positioned to benefit. The contract's open procurement nature allows small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate, as evidenced by Blatchford Limited’s involvement as an SME supplier. Providers with capabilities in remote services, efficient logistics, and compliance with high-level cyber security protocols will find potential to expand their market presence through this engagement.
