## Summary

The procurement process for establishing an Enhanced Care Unit is in the planning stage, led by the Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust on behalf of West Midlands Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Provider Collaborative. This initiative falls under the Psychiatric hospital services category, aimed at developing an Enhanced Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within the West Midlands region. Prospective providers are invited to participate in a market engagement event scheduled for 18th September 2025, followed by individual 1:1 sessions on 19th September 2025. Interested parties must register their interest by 17th September 2025. The contract, valued at approximately £6.3 million, is anticipated to last up to 15 months and will adhere to the NHS Standard Contract terms.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in psychiatric healthcare services to expand their operations. Firms experienced in providing intensive care and trauma-responsive environments, particularly for young people, would find this tender well-suited to their capabilities. The enhanced service model aims to deliver autism-sensitive care and specialise in handling cases with disordered eating as a risk factor, presenting a strategic opportunity for providers to set new benchmarks in Young People’s Intensive Mental Health Services (CYPIMHS). Businesses entering this process will gain access to a substantial contract and have the potential to influence care delivery standards within the region.
