## Summary

The Ministry of Defence is in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "Heavy Fleet Maintenance for British Forces South Atlantic Islands (Falkland Islands) UK2". This process targets the service sector, specifically focusing on the maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles such as buses, ambulances, and gritters at the Mount Pleasant Complex. Scheduled market engagement activities are set to begin in September 2025, with the engagement period concluding by 24th October 2025. Key activities include in-person meetings in the Falkland Islands to gauge interest and assess supplier capabilities. The contract is anticipated to commence on 1st March 2026 and run until 28th February 2029, with a potential extension until 2031. The procurement approach involves a planning phase, and the communication regarding formal notices is expected by 10th November 2025.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that specialise in vehicle repair and maintenance services. With the stated contract value of £182,000, experienced vendors within the fleet maintenance sector, especially those familiar with the demands of specialised and heavy vehicles, would find this contract appealing. The strategic nature of the location in the Falkland Islands presents unique opportunities for companies capable of operating in remote settings, supporting the Ministry of Defence's operational effectiveness in the region. Businesses with expertise in commercial off-the-shelf asset maintenance might find a competitive edge in fulfilling this requirement.

## Notice

BFSAI operates a fleet of specialised heavy vehicles including buses, ambulances and gritters. to support operations at Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC). These vehicles have been procured as Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) assets and, as such, do not benefit from the standard Defence Lines of Development (DLOD) support typically associated with UK white and green fleet assets. To ensure continued operational output and vehicle availability, there is a requirement to establish a support contract. This contract will cover routine servicing and include an option for repairs, thereby maintaining the operational effectiveness of the BFSAI heavy vehicle fleet.

### Planning Information

Cyber & Specialist Operations Command (CSOC) Commercial will be visiting the Falkland Islands in September to engage with local suppliers regarding this requirement. The engagement period will extend into October to accommodate any business not addressed during the initial visit.
The purpose of the visit is to gauge interest, assess supplier capabilities, and gain a deeper understanding of the local market landscape. Key areas of discussion will include the scope of the requirement, potential delivery models, and supplier suitability.
This market engagement will involve in-person meetings, potential site visits, and a presentation and discussion of the Statement of Requirement with the requirement owner and local stakeholders/suppliers.
