## Summary

The recent tender process initiated by the NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board has culminated in the award of the "Specialised Prosthetics Service - Direct Award Process C". This contract, classified under the health services category with CPV code 85100000, focuses on enhancing mobility and independence for individuals facing limb loss. The procurement, using a direct award procedure without prior publication, is outside the typical procurement directive scope and follows the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The Midlands Acute Specialised Commissioning Group spearheaded the decision, and the contract was officially awarded to Opcare Ltd, with its commencement set for 27 October 2025, spanning to 26 October 2030, with an option for a two-year extension. The project is valued at approximately £7,736,183, aiming to provide comprehensive rehab and device provision services in Leicester and its surrounding regions.

This procurement represents a significant opportunity for businesses within the health services sector, particularly those specialising in prosthetic technologies, rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary healthcare delivery. Participating in this project facilitates collaboration with substantial health organisations and allows service providers to innovate, enhance service delivery, and engage in cutting-edge healthcare solutions. Ideal candidates include companies experienced in equipment provision for health mobility and those capable of offering holistic patient care, integrating physiotherapy and community support into their service model. By focusing on reducing health inequalities and facilitating choice, this contract not only promises financial growth but also the ability to positively impact community health standards.
