## Summary

Fife Council is currently in the planning stages of a procurement process for the "Supply and Delivery of Fresh Meat," which falls under the goods category specified as animal products, meat and meat products according to the CPV classification. This procurement process is aimed at ensuring the dependable supply of fresh meat to schools and care homes throughout the Fife region. The Council seeks to establish a new contract to replace existing arrangements that are due to expire, securing the continuous provision of nutritious meals that meet national guidance and food safety standards. The procurement, planned to be conducted according to the European Union's directive 2014/24/EU, will be communicated further on 27th March 2026, reflecting Fife Council's position as a regional authority committed to supporting high standards in public nutrition and sustainability. The anticipated contract value is £800,000.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in the meat supply industry, particularly those capable of providing high-quality, traceable, and sustainable products that meet stringent food safety and nutritional standards. Companies that are capable of ensuring continuous and reliable delivery, demonstrating compliance with Red Tractor or Quality Meat Scotland standards, and can engage in sustainable sourcing are well-suited for this contract. Suppliers from the local economy may particularly benefit, as the contract encourages practices that reduce carbon footprint and support local economic growth. Additionally, the promotion of fair working practices within the supply chain can provide ethical business opportunities for companies prioritising corporate social responsibility alongside business growth.
