## Summary

The Ministry of Defence, a central government public authority, has completed a procurement process involving the direct award of a two-year service support contract for RAPIDSentry equipment. This contract focuses on repair and maintenance services of weapon systems and falls under the defence security industry category. The procurement pertains to the United Kingdom, with the contracting authority located in Bristol, UK. It was directly awarded to Thales UK, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for this air defence capability, holding proprietary rights. Key dates include the contract award published on 17 December 2025 and the standstill period ending on 30 December 2025. The services contract is scheduled to start on 1 January 2026 and end on 30 September 2027, with an optional extension available.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for Thales UK, enabling business growth by leveraging its unique position as the sole provider capable of servicing RAPIDSentry equipment, due to intellectual property and technical expertise. The direct award suggests limited competition, offering potential for large-scale maintenance service providers with the requisite technical capabilities and proprietary knowledge to engage in similar specialised defence contracts. Businesses planning to expand into the defence and security industry can benefit from positioning themselves as OEMs, gaining exclusive procurement contracts in specialised areas.
