## Summary

The London Borough of Islington has completed a public procurement process, illustrated by the direct contract award for Integrated Community Equipment Services. This contract, initiated due to extreme urgency, aims to provide essential community equipment services supporting independent living, hospital discharges, and in-home care. The procurement was driven by the unexpected cessation of the previous service provider, necessitating an immediate contract award to PROVIDE CARE SOLUTIONS LIMITED. The procurement process, completed under the direct award method, commenced on the 22nd of September 2025, and is set to cover a two-year period with an optional one-year extension. This urgent procurement falls under health and social work services, and serves the UKI region, specifically London.

This procurement process presents substantial business growth opportunities, particularly for small to medium enterprises in the health and social care industry. By facilitating the continuation of critical community equipment services, this contract supports businesses skilled in equipment supply, maintenance and logistics. Companies with experience in rapidly mobilising healthcare services, or those capable of contingency planning and managing high-priority equipment needs, would find this contract particularly rewarding. Engaging with this type of urgent, high-impact government contract can significantly enhance a company's reputation and capabilities within the public sector.

## Notice

Provision of community equipment to support independence, hospital discharge, and care at home for adults and children. Includes supply, maintenance, and collection of items.

### Procurement Information

Extreme and unavoidable urgency The Council has a statutory duty to provide the integrated community equipment and service pursuant to the Care Act 2014. The existing provider has notified the Council that they will cease trading from 15 September 2025 and therefore cease providing these services to the Council. Due to the short notice provided by the incumbent provider it is impossible to commission a new contract within the relevant timescales and ensure continuity of service. It is necessary for the Council to urgently award a replacement contract to secure continuity of these critical statutory services in Islington. The Council has considered all options and has concluded that due to this extreme urgency a directly awarded contract under Section 41 and Sections 13 and 14 of Schedule 5 of the Procurement Act 2023 to the provider should be made.
