## Summary

Falkirk Council has completed a tendering process for the provision of Official Veterinarian Services at Border Control Posts located at the Port of Grangemouth and Perth Harbour. The procurement falls under the industry category of veterinary services and has been structured as a framework agreement. The process transitioned through the "award" and "contract" stages, with key details finalised on 30 January 2026. The open procurement method was adopted, which is characterised by an open procedure allowing multiple entries. The awarded contract, with a value of £88,298.80, was signed on 2 December 2025, and the services are crucial for maintaining compliance with regulations concerning products of animal origin and related products in the United Kingdom.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for business growth, especially for organisations operating within the veterinary services industry. Companies that can demonstrate compliance with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons requirements, coupled with suitable economic and technical capacities, are well-positioned to compete in similar future tenders issued by regional authorities. The open procurement method ensures that qualified small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have equal opportunities to secure contracts, aligning with the broader goals of promoting regional economic development and scale efficiency in public service provisions.
