## Summary

This procurement process, led by Rossendale Borough Council, involves the refurbishment of a shop unit at Trickett's Arcade in Waterfoot, focusing on transforming it into a community hub. Positioned under the open competition method, the tender is classified within the construction industry category and spans various regions within the United Kingdom. While the tender was originally active, aimed to conclude by 15th October 2025 with a contract period from 10th November to 24th December 2025, it was unfortunately cancelled as of 7th October 2025 due to project viability concerns. The refurbishment works required expertise in heritage projects due to the building's Grade II listed status.

This tender presented a substantial opportunity for businesses, particularly those with experience in heritage construction and refurbishment. The project sought to engage a contractor capable of handling detailed restoration work while integrating modern amenities to support community initiatives. SMEs were encouraged to apply, fostering an inclusive competitive landscape. While this specific tender has been cancelled, businesses with specialisation in construction or heritage preservation, especially those familiar with public sector projects, would have found this an excellent platform for demonstrating their capabilities and could look out for potential future opportunities from Rossendale Borough Council within their urban regeneration projects.
