## Summary

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is in the process of tendering for a significant contract titled "The Provision of Journey Planning, Mobile Ticketing and Mobile Application." This procurement is aimed at unifying transport-related digital solutions across the region, focusing on journey planning and mobile ticketing to streamline customer experiences. The tender is divided into three lots, covering journey planning, mobile ticketing backoffice solutions, and a mobile app. The procurement stage is currently active, with the submission deadline for tenders being the 6th of July 2026. This initiative promises significant potential benefits for improving public transport utility in the region, aligning with the strategic transport objectives of Transport for West Midlands (TfWM). The contract, considered a major services procurement, will be conducted through an open competitive procedure, offering substantial opportunities for businesses in Birmingham and the broader UKG region.

This tender presents a substantial growth opportunity for businesses involved in custom software development, system and support services, and transport technology solutions. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged to apply, with the procurement process structured to accommodate competitive flexibility. Successful bidders will benefit not only from a contract potentially totalling over £5 million but also from the opportunity to influence and enhance the digital mobility landscape in a major UK region. The division into lots allows businesses specialising in specific areas, such as app development or ticketing systems, to leverage their expertise and enhance their portfolio through collaboration with a major public authority.
