## Summary

The Metropolitan Borough of Bury has completed the procurement process for a contract titled "Young People Supporting Living," aimed at addressing homelessness and supporting young families and individuals. This initiative is divided into three lots, with Lot 1 focusing on "Young Peoples Accommodation and Support Service." The contract, procured using an open procedure and classified under "services," targets regions within the UKD36 area. The procurement aligns with the UKPGA legal framework and falls under the light-touch regime with an estimated value of £1.5 million for Lot 1. The award for this lot was completed as of 28 January 2026, with the contract period starting on 4 January 2027 and anticipated to extend until 3 February 2029, with potential renewals subject to review. The contracting authority awarded the contract to Great Places Housing Association, reflecting a significant investment in social work, real estate, and health services within the local community.

This procurement provides substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in social work, real estate, and health services, particularly those focusing on supporting vulnerable communities. SMEs in these industries are well-positioned to benefit from similar tenders in the future, given their capacity for flexible and innovative service delivery that meets specific local needs. Businesses that can offer tailored support services to young people and families at risk of homelessness will find this contract aligns with strategic growth opportunities. Additionally, organisations with experience in the Ofsted-regulated accommodation sector for minors will have a comparative advantage in addressing the nuanced requirements of such public procurement contracts. The initiative underscores the importance of collaborative efforts between the local government and service providers to enhance community welfare and stability.
