## Summary

The public procurement process conducted by Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust focuses on the "Respiratory Metagenomics Expansion Programme." This tender, awarded through a direct award process, is aimed at procuring clinical services related to respiratory metagenomics, with funding from NHS England and the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology for the financial years 2025/26. The location of the procurement is London, United Kingdom, addressing various regions across the UK. The procurement reached the award stage on 21 October 2025. This procurement offers substantial opportunities for growth in the biotech sector, particularly for businesses specialising in advanced DNA/RNA sequencing technologies. Oxford Nanopore Technologies PLC has been identified as the supplier given their unique position as the sole provider of patented sequencing technology that meets the procurement requirements. Businesses focused on research laboratory services, particularly those developing innovative, scalable solutions in genomic and metagenomic fields, stand to gain significantly from participating in similar future opportunities. The project promises enhanced partnerships within the healthcare sector, providing ample scope for market expansion for suppliers able to meet stringent technical standards.
