## Summary

The recent procurement process initiated by Westmorland and Furness Council focuses on housing support linked to short-term accommodation and emergency temporary accommodation. Specifically targeting young people, the tender aims to reduce inequality and enable a bright future free from the risk of homelessness. The procurement is in the 'award' stage, having concluded on 1 April 2026, with The Riverside Group successfully awarded the contract. This process, governed under the light touch regime, targets the health and social work services category and is valued at £275,286. The service spans various UK regions, including UKC, UKD, and UKE among others. Key details also include the provision of a 12-month extension option with the maximum contract duration potentially extending to March 2029, under an open procurement methodology.

This tender presents significant opportunities for companies within the health and social services sector, particularly those experienced in housing support and youth services. Businesses that specialise in personalised service delivery, especially those adept in working with young people experiencing complex support needs, mild learning disabilities, or high-functioning autism, would be well-suited to engage in this contract. The emphasis on strategic alignment with the council’s priorities and capacity to manage tenancy transitions effectively further suggests that organisations with robust service delivery planning and the ability to drive efficient, flexible service models will find this tender beneficial for growth and expansion in the public sector.
