## Summary

The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust has completed the direct award stage of a procurement process titled "STA Emergency upgrade of Regen Ovens across UHBW," aimed at addressing emergency electrical upgrades at its facilities. The procurement falls under the services category and involves electrical installation work and miscellaneous repair and maintenance services in Bristol, within the UKK region. The contract, valued at £187,307.63, will run from 21 December 2025 to 17 April 2026, with a future milestone scheduled for 1 December 2025. The procurement was not a tender opportunity but rather an emergency out-of-scope variation to an existing contract, facilitating swift execution to mitigate fire risks, as outlined by the Trust.

This opportunity presents significant growth potential for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in electrical installation and maintenance services. The direct award was made to Electrio Ltd, a Bristol-based SME, highlighting the preferential suitability for such companies to engage in urgent or specialised procurement activities. By utilising existing framework agreements, similar businesses can leverage established relationships with public authorities and expand their portfolios in public sector infrastructure projects through both direct awards and competitive tenders. This instance underscores the importance of timely project execution and expertise in maintaining safety standards within hospital environments.

## Notice

Out of scope variation to an existing Electrical MTC contract where the job falls outside the current contract controls. THIS IS NOT A TENDER OPPORTUNITY As a result of an incident, emergency upgrading of regen ovens used across the Trust will be undertaken. There will be installed 16-amp IP44 switched interlocked sockets and plugs, located near the proposed oven positions. New radial final circuits will be installed using either SWA/LSOH, LSX, or 6491B cabling from the existing distribution boards. Circuit protection will be provided by new dedicated 16-amp RCBOs (Memshield 2 or Schneider devices) within the existing distribution boards. At Weston, these will be RCDs housed in a secondary enclosure.

### Procurement Information

We are using the Electrical MTC that already exists (outside of its normal limiations) to ensure the work is completed quickly to avoid additional potential fire risks. Tendering would have meant considerable delay to risk reduction and additional familiarisation/mobilisation time/cost.
