## Summary

The Department for Science, Innovation & Technology is at the planning stage of a procurement process titled "Observability Tool UK1 Notice", falling under the industry category of information technology services and software package systems. This process aims to acquire a comprehensive observability tool for One Login's system, supporting its development and operational teams. The project is set in London, with significant dates including the contract period starting on 26th August 2026 and potentially extending until 25th August 2031, with a planned communication notice expected by 2nd February 2026. This is a planned procurement initiative, offering total funding of GBP 7,200,000, and adheres to the legal basis set by UKPGA 2023/54.

This tender creates lucrative opportunities for IT service providers, software developers specialising in full-stack observability solutions, and businesses adept at delivering secure, UK-based hosting services compatible with open standards. Companies that can provide intuitive and well-integrated systems, especially those experienced with Serverless architectures and open standards like OTEL and OCFF, will find this an ideal opportunity. Additionally, the tender encourages participation from small and medium enterprises (SMEs), recognising their potential contribution to this strategic national initiative.

## Notice

One Login's Observability tool will empower developers and support teams to investigate system issues with confidence, and identify problems before they escalate. We are seeking full-stack observability of end-to-end journeys, an intuitive interface, well-tuned alerting, compatibility with Serverless architecture, compatibility with open standards (e.g. OTEL, OCFF), and secure UK-based hosting. Insights from this tool will provide continuous visibility of SLIs, SLOs and error budgets across the service, empowering decision-making at all levels of the organisation and ensuring that One Login operates as intended. This tool is an essential part of our Observability strategy, enabling One Login to meet critical reliability and security commitments and scale to higher volumes - all while maintaining a smooth and responsive experience for users.
