## Summary

The procurement process initiated by Kent and Medway Towns Fire Authority involved an open tender for the purchase of fire appliances. The focus was on designing and building fire appliances, which includes three distinct variants ranging from heavy to light types. The complete tender involved the potential acquisition of up to fifty vehicles over a contract period of five years, with a provision for a two-year extension. Key dates in the process included the tender notice publication on 14 November 2025, with submission deadlines extending to 13 February 2026 following a four-week extension to allow for more time for tender preparation. The award was finalised on 16 April 2026, with the contract mobilisation set to commence in May 2026. Location-wise, the procurement focuses on Maidstone, United Kingdom, within the public authority sub-central government category.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth, especially for businesses in the motor vehicles and specialist vehicles industry capable of developing emergency vehicles. With quality and price being equally weighted criteria, businesses that provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions stand to benefit. Emergency One (UK) Ltd emerged as the successful supplier in the award stage, suggesting opportunities for larger organisations with experience in providing customised emergency solutions. Additionally, the prospect of training provisions, warranty coverage, and after sales services enhances the long-term relationship and value a business can offer, favouring firms with comprehensive service capabilities. This procurement highlights the potential for businesses to secure contracts that ensure stability over several years, contributing substantially to sustainable business growth.
