## Summary

The Tees Valley Combined Authority is conducting an active open procurement process for a Renewable Energy System at Teesside International Airport located in Darlington, United Kingdom. This tender, titled "TIAL-PROC-0109 - Renewable Energy System," falls under the industry categories of construction work and repair and maintenance services for electrical machinery. The procurement process involves a competitive flexible procedure, comprising three stages: participation, initial tender submission, and negotiation. Key dates include the enquiry period ending on 16th December 2025, the tender period closing on 26th January 2026, and the award period concluding on 2nd March 2026. The contract period is between 6th April 2026 and 5th April 2052.

This procurement opportunity presents significant potential for business growth, particularly for companies specialising in renewable energy solutions and large-scale construction projects. SMEs are encouraged to participate, as suitability criteria indicate their eligibility. The project's estimated value is approximately £30 million, involving the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Renewable Energy System over a 15 to 25-year period. Businesses with expertise in long-term power purchase agreements and sustainable energy infrastructures would be well-positioned to compete, leveraging the chance to secure a contract that not only supports the airport's net-zero ambitions but also contributes to the company's portfolio in renewable energy initiatives.

## Notice

TIAL have areas of land that are not required operationally but are unable to be developed for traditional construction projects. The Renewable Energy System in the first instance will fulfil the current energy usage at the airport and will have the ability to grow as the airport's demand rises through land developments. The opportunity will comprise a lease of identified land at the Airport, and a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the supply of renewable energy generated at the site to the Airport. The successful contractor will be required to construct, operate and maintain the Renewable Energy System at the site and ensure the ongoing supply of renewable energy to the Airport for a period of between 15 and 25 years.
