## Summary

On 19th February 2026, NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board completed the procurement process for the "NHS South Yorkshire ICB Barnsley Place 12-25 Neurodiversity Support Service". This process was initiated through an open procedure and has culminated in the awarding of the contract, with Barnardo's selected as the supplier. The service is set to start on 1st April 2026, focusing on providing support to neurodiverse individuals in Barnsley, United Kingdom. The contract, initially for two years with a potential extension of an additional two years, reflects the board's commitment to enhancing the assessment and diagnosis experience for individuals with autism and related conditions such as ADHD. The total value awarded for this contract is £236,667, and the process included several bids, with the standstill period ending on 3rd March 2026.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in counselling and guidance services, particularly those with expertise in supporting neurodiverse populations. Businesses capable of delivering high-quality services and innovative solutions to meet the needs defined within the Barnsley All Age Autism Strategy are well-positioned to benefit from this contract. The procurement reinforced a competitive bidding environment, with considerations for both price and quality, suggesting that SMEs and VCSEs with extensive experience and specialised knowledge in the mental health and social care sectors could find promising growth opportunities here. The contractual option for renewal further offers a stable roadmap for long-term engagement, allowing businesses to expand their service offerings and improve community outcomes.
