## Summary

De Montfort University, located in Leicester, is in the planning stages of a procurement process for "Taxi Shuttle Services" within the transportation services industry category. The procurement seeks to provide shuttle services to and from major UK airports, with the contract indicating approximately 300 trips per year. The project is a public authority initiative classified under sub-central government, aiming for improved solutions through web and app-based technologies. The procurement planning milestone highlights key interests in additional value areas such as sustainability, social value, and financial controls. Responses are due by 14 December 2025, with a contract start date set for 1 July 2026 and potential renewal until June 2031.

This procurement presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the transportation sector to collaborate with a major academic institution. Companies with capabilities in providing sustainable and efficient taxi services, particularly those employing hybrid or electric vehicles, are well-suited for this opportunity. Furthermore, businesses that can offer innovative technologies for reporting, user experience, and fraud prevention will find an advantageous position to grow through this contract. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, with the procurement process receptive to suggestions for streamlining supplier engagement. This is an excellent prospect for businesses seeking to expand their services within the UK’s public sector.

## Notice

De Montfort University has an ongoing requirement for airport shuttle services, to and from all major UK airports. Currently, approximately 300 trips per year are undertaken to major UK airports. This is based on our current demand and is only indicative. Our existing process is based on email and web-based ordering but given developments in technology since the last contract award, we are keen to explore web and app-based solutions that could improve ease of use and efficiency.
